Lyrics Are You In Love? Album

Amy's Dreams
In the still of the night
Your demons come haunting
You cower in the dark
They're laughing and taunting you
In the still of the night
Your dreams are irrefutable
That voice in the dark
Whispers inscrutable

Roll through the night
On a river of madness
Thrown to the cliffs
That plunge to the sea
Oh won't the sun
Spark the new morning?
Please release me
Please release me
Please release me
Give me peace

But in the still of the night
Giant cockroaches surrounding you
You scream it's a dream
But the facts are now confounding you
In the still of the night
In the still of the night
In the still of the night
In the still of the night

Oak Angels
I met him by the oak tree near Flagler
He sat with me while I played my guitar
And I told him I thought he might be an angel
He said, you ought to know 'cause an angel is what you are
Well, it's clear we're different from those mortals
Our eyes behold many things they just can't see
We were brought here to this sacred place near Flagler
To say a prayer to this old oak tree
Two angels and an ancient tree towering tree

He told me he'd been a driver at Daytona
When they ran the races right down on the beach
And he told me this oak's as old as Jesus
Standing tall when the prophet start to teach
And I said, yes, we are this tree's disciples
I'm glad to know there are others just like me
Let us go now and make our supplication
And say a prayer to this our old oak tree
Two angels and an ancient tree towering tree
Two angels share of immortality

I met him by The Oak Tree near Flagler

Connects To You
Don't want to be the hunter or the prey
I've lost more fights than anyone can say
Lost friends, and fortunes, faith, lost myself too
But the part of me not lost connects to you

Burnt near ever bridge I ever built
Tossed the torch, left town, and felt no guilt
Yeah, toasting trestles that's the thing I do
Now the only bridge that's left connects to you

Why don't we down the bridges to my ego?
And share a smoke and scented jasmine tea
When the lilacs get to blooming in the springtime
I know nothing really matters except you and me

I thought I heard the glory marching by
I guess it didn't matter when I tried
Some things are unimaginable, it's true
Since my imagining connects to you
And the part of me not lost connects to you
And the only bridge that's left connects to you
Connects to you
Connects to you
Connects to you
Connects to you
The only bridge that's left connects to you

Are You In Love?
Hey you, listening on your radio
Hey you, tuning in through your iPhone
Hey you, streaming me through crappy ear buds
Hey you, sitting in some cross-town bar
I only want to know
Are you in love? Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Are you in love? Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Are you in love? Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Are you in love?
Are you in love?

Hey you, slogging through your boring work day
Hey you, driving in your fancy car
Hey you, digging me on a digital download
Hey you, hear me now both near and far
I only want to know
Are you in love? Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Are you in love? Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Are you in love? Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Are you in love?
Are you in love?
Are you in la-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-ove

Are you in la-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-ove
Are you in la-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-ove
Are you in la-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-ove
Are you in love?
Are you in love?
Are you in love?

I Am Sorry
I'm sorry for all the unkind things
I did in my life
I go down the list
One after the other
Sad and thinking twice
I'm sorry for all the hurtful things
You heard me say
Mia Culpa, my sister
Forgive me, my brother
I shouldn't have talked that way

The sands of time mix grains of good and bad
For my sins, I am sorry
You can't sift out the sands now make you sad
And for that, I'm truly sorry

I'm sorry for all the dirty deeds
That I have done
The tête-à-têtes
The friends betrayed
Watch The Rabbit on the run

I'm sorry for all the love I didn't give
And didn't get
I had no idea what love is, Baby
And I'm healing from that yet

Why do I let the past keep haunting me?
Move on, end of story
Because the shame I feel inside won't let me be
So today I sing I'm sorry

I'm sorry for all the unkind things
I did in my life
I go down the list
One after the other
Sad and thinking twice

My Arms
I got arms that long to hold you
I got arms to pull you tight
And my arms will give you comfort
In the middle of the night
I got arms so strong and mighty
But my arms can hold a child
I got arms that you can cling to
When things are getting wild
Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah
My arms
Roll into my arms

I got arms that say, "I love you"
Every time that we embrace
And my arms will lift you upward
Just to smile right in your face
I got arms that ply the water
I'm your ship on raging sea
And my arms did build this mansion
Of love for you and me
Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah
My arms
Roll into my arms

I got arms that wave so madly
When you're getting off the plane
And an arm will circle round you
When we're walking in the rain
I got arms that hold the guitar
Write this song of love for you
And my arms of bone and muscle
Will always pull you through
Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah
My arms
Roll into my arms

I got arms that long to hold you
I got arms to pull you tight
And my arms will give you comfort
In the middle of the night
I got arms so strong and mighty
But they're loving arms, it's true
And my arms of bone and muscle
Will always pull you through
Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah
Roll up
Roll into my arms

The Lady Danced
It was one sorry night
Not a thrill, not a bite
And I drank 'til I drank myself sober
With my boys at the bar
All a couple too far
And we knew that this night was just over
When from a far corner booth
Where I saw gin, no vermouth
And smoke poured out like there was fire
Came the flash of a lighter
To show a face so much brighter
And every eye turned to her with desire

Then she shook her shoulders
And her wrap fell away
She rose as if in a spotlight
And floated
To the bandstand
Where it all began

Oh she danced
Yes she danced
She fell into a trance
And she swooned and swayed with the band
Yes she danced
How she danced
In sinuating stance
As she swiveled her hips and her hands
And she danced

Her hair, pure polished platinum
Her eyes, gunmetal gray
The air sucked out like vacuum
When she floated
To the bandstand
Where it all began
Yes she danced
How she danced
She was rhythm and romance
Undulating in willowy grace
Yes she danced
How she danced
Thought I'd take a chance
But I could tell by the look on her face
She only danced
But how she danced

Wise Ones
The wise ones met to sit and discuss
What will become of all of us
Will there be famine?
Will there be war?
Wise ones tell us there's something to live for
Yes, please, please tell us there's something to live for

But first the great feast, and we did partake
We made our supplications just at daybreak
Then they closed the great doors to debate and decide
And the multitude of us, we waited out side
Yes we waited in front of those great wooden gates
And none of us knew what would be our fate

But we sang
Ooh, la la, hay la
Ooh, ooh ooh, ay
Ooh, la la, hay la
Bountiful blessings today, wise ones
For those who wait in the doorway

We sang and danced 'til the setting sun
When the great gates opened, to show the wisest one
Yes, the widest one came forth to speak
And here's what she said to all of us sheep
Yes, hear the words she spoke of the harvest we would reap
Yes, hear the words she spoke of the harvest we would reap

She said, in the long run, it looks pretty grim
After the endless wars kick in
But maybe for just this brief time you are here
You won't have to live in fear
Yes maybe each spring will bring another year
When you won't have to live in fear

And we sang
Ooh, la la, hay la
Ooh, la la, hay
Ooh, la la, hay la
Wise ones brought joy forth today, oh, oh
Wise ones brought joy forth today
Wise ones brought reason to live, oh, oh
Wise ones brought joy forth today
Maybe there'll be no doomsday
Maybe there'll be no doomsday
Not for us anyway
Not for us anyway
